Mooncake Delights

September 26, 2009 nahele Leave a comment

With all the mooncake craze going on due to the upcoming Mid Autumn Festival, little did I know that there could be even more variety of mooncakes available!

Thanks to E’s Joie, one of the baking blogs that I read on a regular basis, I realised only to my surprise recently that there are such things called Agar Agar Mooncakes!

And they look so gorgeous and yummy!

Another mooncake that I would like to share would be the Rainbow Soda Snowskin version of the mooncakes.

While I may not like durian, I don’t think that will stop me from substituting it with other kinds of flavours! For me, I just can’t help falling in love with the pretty swirl of the colours that makes me so tempted to try out the recipe one day.

And it’s from this day that I realised how little I know about baking stuff! Hopefully one day, I can have more time to venture into baking and exploring all the little secrets out there! =)

All photo credits to Elyn from E’s Joie (She’s just such a marvelous food photographer!).
And for anyone who wish to try out these cool mooncakes, the recipes are available on her blog.

Bambako

A long overdue post that I’ve wanted to do for quite some time to portray the shopaholic desire in me. Bambako might sound like some weird word, but it’s actually an online shop that sells pretty hairbands, much to my delight!

As pretty as the head bands are, they actually cost quite a bomb! And ever since they revamped their website, the designs they sport do not seem as nice as the previous ones…

I particularly like Sunshine, Smooth Operator, Sunshowers, Off the Wall and Alright Okay. Gosh, I just love feathers! =D

Mooncake in the Making

September 16, 2009 nahele 6 comments

It’s almost the time of the year to start making mooncakes once again. This time, I brought the mooncake mania to my workplace, where Chiu Ling and myself teach the patients how to make some for sale to the rest of the hospital staff. With this being a pioneer project, response was not too bad =)

3 types of patterns, 2 types of fillings…

Next up, doing the mooncakes itself with the Boy. Time to create our very own sweet delight =)

Army Open House

I visited the men in green again! Ahaha =)

Many thanks to the Boy accompanying me despite him being a bit sick of the army, we got ourselves down to the west of Singapore again, where I got to see the army displays once again. While I tried to dress for the theme, silly me realised at the end that wearing a denim skirt for such a event although it felt cooler with the skirt, it impeded me on my ability to climb in and out of the stationary vehicles!!! -_-

So yup, I was reduced to just walking around the place, not watching any performances as I thought it was the same through and through, and not being able to try out the safari rides cause of the extremely-long-1.5hour-waiting queue. Boo! But then, we did try out a simulated battle game, where we were armed with M16s, and had to rescue 4 cardboard civilians from 4 cardboard terrorists and a cardboard bomb. I was told to fire at the timer, but guess what did I shoot at?

Yes, I aimed for the bomb! -_-
I’m such a sillified dodo…

Overwhelmed

September 4, 2009 nahele 3 comments

These days, I’m not sure why, but I’ve been feeling quite overwhelmed by work. Sure people would ask me to take leave and go on a break, but I do feel worried if I do go for a break because of the many things that are happening at work. Not to mention that my team is a fairly new one, of whom some still need my guidance and help (not that I’m very old or experienced per say). But for what it’s worth, I do feel stretched for all the up and coming events and happenings that the saying ‘it never pours but rains’ is just so apt to surmise all my feelings at the moment.

Still, I cannot say how proud I am of myself to have completed a catalogue for Craft Creates, a programme which I am managing and have built up 2 years ago. It’s a programme in which patients of IMH create craft items for sale. They can be door gifts or festive gifts to anyone and everyone. The time spent on weekends just to head to the hospital to set up the room for photo-taking, the time spent after work on my laptop to work on the layout, it was all worth it =)
