When I saw the advertisment on “The Vagina Monologues”, I knew that I would like to attend it as I asked the boy along to accompany me. Interestingly, he obliged =)
Eve Ensler was the author, as I was amazed that prior to the play, she interviewed many women before producing such a play. Quite interestingly was one story where a woman had not seen her vagina in many years, preferring to believe that it was something else between her legs. Other notable stories are of a transsexual who tried really hard to assume her new identity as a woman, hoping that others would accept her too, like her late boyfriend who died because others did not want him to be with her. Of course there wouldn’t be a lack of sensuous pole dancing, hilarious moans of different genres and a story of how men should love hair if they love vaginas =)
So, go catch it now while you still can. It’s on at the Drama Centre at the National Library till 12 Oct! More information at Zebra Crossing Production =)
