La Terrasse

September 29, 2008 nahele Leave a comment

Deciding to take a Monday off to pamper myself (as well as to extend my birthday celerbration by having a long weekend), Bingrong and I decided to try out La Terrasse at Orchard Hotel since my Standard Chartered credit card entitled me to a 1-for-1 high tea buffet meal.

We tried out a lot of food, from dim sum, to noodles, to an assortment of desserts, to my all time favourite kueh pie tee (a nonya snack made like a crispy little cup with turnip and other ingredients).

That’s when we started going crazy again, and snapped quite a few pictures of the food. And yes, we even went to the extent of using food from other sections to decorate our plates =D

Hell, I did not even let the fruits off! =D

Happy Hatch Day

September 27, 2008 nahele 4 comments

It’s the time of the year again where I celebrate my annual It’s-Geri’s-Day moment!

Truth be told, I was feeling a little down on the eve of my birthday, partly because of work issues. So while I bummed around at home while the rest of the world was basking in the F1 glory, I received a call from Bingrong at about ten plus, telling me to get dressed up, and to bring my EZ-link card along. While it might sound weird to all as to why I needed all those, well, it’s because the 3-second-goldfish-brain of mine decided to leave my wallet in the office! So, when I finally saw him at my void deck, I was surprised with lovely flowers!

Purple roses!!

I was pleasantly surprised, as it has been quite a long time since someone gave me flowers for a special occasion, although he was a little bummed by the fact that my colleagues surprised me with a huge bouquet of pink lilies the day before. (More about it in the next entry) But heck, they are roses, and purple nonetheless! I’ve always loved purple =)

So yea, after travelling to and fro from my hospital (where he finally saw the pathetic state of my small office), we settled ourselves back to the void deck of my home, where he surprised me again with my birthday cake =)

A nice chocolate cake from Canele, with a customised chocolate message.
It’s so sweet, and literally too!

My birthday cake and me =)

But for what it’s worth, I’m very happy to have spent my birthday moments with him, and I truly appreciated his efforts (I knew it wasn’t easy for him at all for his plans constantly got dashed with ever changing plans as my birthday fell on the F1 racing days).

So, here’s a big shout out to my dear Bingrong: Thank you very much for all your efforts to make my birthday a nice and memorable one! It’s been quite a while since someone did so much for me. Soon in just a few days time, it will be my turn to return the favour =) Till then, I can’t wait to see you smile.

And to end off this happy birthday post, here’s…

Super Import Nights

September 24, 2008 nahele Leave a comment

Like most guys, whenever there are fast cars and hot babes, they will always try to be there. And Bingrong is no exception, only that this time, I tagged along! And while he was worried that I might be bored as he would constantly be taking pictures of the cars and girls, I guess I was still alright as I entertained myself with observing people and enjoying the curves of the cars (but yes, I did watch some of the girls’ curves too…) =P

Lotus. At a certain angle (from the front I believe), it looked like the Bat mobile to me! =)

And I realised that my favourite car of the pack so far was the Lamborghinis! (As most of the pictures that I took ended up being them… My favourite of the lot was the matt black one!! It’s so sleek!) =P

As much as I enjoyed myself looking at the cars, I was quite turned off by some people at the exhibition. You guessed it, the male photographers. As Super Import Nights’ focus is on the imported models, like what Bingrong said, the men were like ‘wolves’. Wherever the models go, they follow very closely. Nevermind if you were originally standing there. When the models walk over, the guys will come over as well, and push you away, even if you were a girl! I was totally irritated by that. A self respecting person I believe shouldn’t be that brash and rude even if you wanted to take pictures. Besides, can’t everyone take turns??

Anyway, this was the crowd for the local models. So can you imagine the crowd for the imported models? Especially the Thai racequeens. Bah… Men…

But here’s a picture of the USA’s racequeens as taken by Bingrong. Some of them are really sweet looking. Bingrong was quite disappointed though as he said that their costumes this year were milder =P

Still, as much as the import models’ costumes were mild, some of the local models at the booths had really provocative costumes. I was quite amazed by it, as well as the models’ hot bods. You can see more of them at Bingrong’s blog.

And I must say, after so long of seeing the local models on screen, I finally got to see them in person. They were really friendly, as I got to see the boys talk to them (especially Ronald as he always go on photoshoots with them). One boo-boo thing I did however was that I accidentally ignored Danielle when she’s talking to me! Oops… Thankfully she was kind enough to look past that =)

Mid Autumn Festival @ Chinese Garden

September 21, 2008 nahele Leave a comment

With the boy living so close to the Chinese Garden, I doubt we would give the Lantern Exhibit a miss.

Originally, we intended to head down on 6 Sep, only to be greeted by dark clouds along the way. And just when we could not make up our mind as to whether or not we should really enter after buying the tickets, our answer was given when it started to drizzle. Imagine our luck when we were really just a few steps away from the entrance!

That’s the scene I took while Bingrong bought tickets. It was already quite crowded when we at the entrance.

With the rain making the choice for us, we went back there the following week on 13 Sep, on the eve of the Mid Autumn Festival. Being a little late, we rushed our way through the crowd (as seen above) in order to catch a glimpse of the fireworks. And thankfully, we were in time as I enjoyed the moment with him, even though it was a small-scaled fireworks performance.

With this year’s theme being Hello Kitty, wherever we went, it was the cat, the cat and the cat. Quite boring I would say, as compared to the previous Disney theme, where you could see more characters.

So here are some pictures of the exhibits

While the reflection of the exhibits against the still waters of the lake is just breath-taking!

And while we took some individual shots, I had no idea I took such a horrible picture of Bingrong! The composition of the picture is just atrocious! =(

But as much as the exhibits were quite boring in my opinion, I am still glad that I was able to spend time with Bingrong.

And although we did not have the chance to carry the traditional old-school lanterns, savour mouth-watering mooncakes or enjoy a moon-gazing session together, at least I had the chance to hold his hand and walk around Chinese Garden with him =)
