Leap With Me

February 29, 2008 nahele Leave a comment

And so, I ‘leaped’ the day together with my crazy-hilarious bunch of colleagues.

No matter where we are, what we do, we are always full of nonsensical drama.

I like it =)

Airshow 2008

Planes planes planes!!

Not wishing to miss out on the airshow again as I did 2 years ago, plans were made to make sure that I got myself there. Deciding to go on a Sunday, I guess I was lucky as I heard on the news/read from the papers that the queue was really long, and it was really really hot on Saturday.

As much as we wanted to head there early and skip the crazy crowd, we still were caught in the throng of visitors, as we had to wait for about 1 hour to catch the shuttle bus to and from from Changi Exhibition Centre. But then again, it’s better than waiting for more than 1 hour ya? =)

When you first enter the centre, instead of the usual airplanes, you are first ‘treated’ to displays by RSAF, much to the amusement of Bingrong. And while I may be quite an army fanatic, I am still most intrigued by the Apache. Besides, there were just too many people taking pictures with the tanks, officers etc, that it wasn’t easy for me to capture the above picture!

So off we went on to the aerial display, where I spotted a Chinook. One cool thing about it was there it was open to visitors! But as usual, there were just too many people queuing up for it!! And again, it was such a pain trying to capture a nice picture of it without many people in it. So what happened in the end? I settled for a shot with it’s body instead.

Ha, I feel like I’m so patriotic with this picture. Looks so much like a National Day kind of thing =P

Oh yea, and this was the best I could get at the moment. Kids kids and more kids =)

Some of the displays

What’s the big hoo haa at the airshow? It’s none other than the Airbus A380. Seriously, wherever it went, the crowd followed! And with me being more of the military type of aircraft girl than the commercial one, I was pretty amused.

Come flyyy with me =)

Oo, and before you know it, it was time for the aerial performance!!

The RAAF Rouelettes and their performance, along with the cute finale of the heart with an arrow through it.

Being the bias person that I am, the team aerobatics is always more interesting than the solo ones. So, I only captured pictures of the team performance =D But also, you’d realise sooner or later that the performances are usually more or less the same. Not that I’m complaining actually, as there is really nothing much that planes can do apart from those that are already being performed.

Oh, and guess what? The A380 also had a chance to ’show off’. It was pretty amusing to see a big plane slowly whiz by as compared to the faster, smaller military aircrafts. Ha, I did not have to worry about not being able to capture this big plane on camera! And like I said, even though I was not that interested in it, there were so many people intrigued by it that it was pretty much ‘monkey see monkey do’ for me, hahaha…

The Black Knights, with their all low droning sound as compared to the loud high-pitch shrieks of the other military crafts.

After the performance, it was back to static displays, as finally, I was in the mood of capturing myself with the crafts.

So that’s small me, with a big black helicopter

As compared to big Bingrong with a puny aircraft, hahaha =)

Oh oh, and guess what I saw among the crowd when the rest of the world were busy oo-ing and aww-ing at the return of the A380 from its flight??

Super cute, power-ranger-wannabe triplets!! Ok everybody, say ’so cute!!’

Deciding to hide from the blazing sun for a moment, off we hid in the exhibition hall for a moment’s coolness. And when we’ve finally decided to step back into the sun, we discovered to our amazement that the RSAF displays had very little people surrounding it! It was then that the photographer decided to go on a shooting spree of me with the army displays, as he felt that my attire was very aptly suited for such shoots.

So behold, my ‘portfolio’ shoot as according to him! Yes, I saluted, and even got a picture with my Apache, hee… From then on, it was commemorated as the ‘army open house shoot’ than an ‘airshow shoot’ as remarked by the clown of a photographer, as I had more pictures with the RSAF displays than the aircraft displays. And all within a span of just 10 minutes!

But at least after a long day of walking under the sun, I finally got a picture of the Chinook too =) You have no idea how much of a pain it was though to just take a picture of it…

And while the sun slowly set, and rain seemed impending, we were still out there having fun, going crazy shooting. The A380 particularly still had most of the attention.

Especially from Mr Photographer =)

Oh, and on a side note before I end, I’m badly burnt!

EXCO Mania

February 23, 2008 nahele Leave a comment

Thanks to Sayanee, us EXCO managed to have a chance to meet up again. With the both of us having course on friday, we were the only two early birds, meeting up at 630pm while having to wait till 8 plus before the rest arrived and had dinner together.

So in the meanwhile, we went window shopping. But guessed what? Sayanee managed to find this keychain with my occupation tag on it!

I was really surprised as not many places, people or shops actually do know of my job title. And the girl was sweet enough to buy it as a gift for me. I’m touched =)

But finally, after waiting for over 2 hours, the rest have more or less arrived, and it was time for dinner. Out of the Pan it was, as we were indulging on our crepes. And yes as usual, we have our photo-taking sessions.

It’s amazing how time has passed, that we are all now working. And somehow, it seems that the engineers are travelling all over the world, as Huiling just got back from Texas, USA, Sayanee is travelling to France next wednesday, and Lilin might have the possibility of travelling to USA in June too! Even Chun Li the accountant has the chance to travel to Hong Kong for work purposes. Bleah, I’m envious…

But nevermind, there is always desserts to perk up the day =D Yes, we are chocolate fanatics, haha!

And soon, Ronghui finally arrived, and we had a group pic! We actually stayed till the closing of the shop =)

Not so keen to leave so soon, as Ronghui has just arrived, we adjorned to the nearby War Memorial Park.

The night scene was really lovely, and the moon did add much to the atmosphere. And being Sayanee, she was so much in excitement about her France trip that the Obelisk became her Effiel Tower!

But back to us, it was really nice just enjoying the tranquility as we just sat down to chat. And somehow, engineers being engineers (the logical bunch of people), someone started questioning how tall the obelisk was. With numbers flying around, much to our amusement, the dynamic duo of Ronghui and Sayanee went on a trip to the obelisk to find out how tall it was.

60.53m was their statement, and with much conviction, so much so that I actually believed them. But when I did go to take a look when Ronghui mentioned that there was something nice to capture there, I realised that we were cheated!! Still, they weren’t that far from the correct value, as after doing my homework, I found out that it is about 61m in height =)

And as usual, I kind of went into a shooting mode =)

As well as more photo-whoring:

The Yin Yang twins

3 by 3

And finally, 5 in a pic.

So before I end it off, bon voyage Sayanee! Have a safe trip to France, and don’t forget to share with us all your French-y photos!! Be safe and have fun! =D

Sentosa Flowers

February 20, 2008 nahele 2 comments

Ha, I guess I was lucky enough to take a look at the Sentosa Flower Exhibition, as the last weekend was burnt running around taking pictures with Mother Nature’s artwork (it also happened to be their last day of exhibition).

Welcome!

Me me =)

One of the main attractions of the exhibition was the swan exhibits, where it was made out of lovely flowers.

But as you can see, somehow the photographer decided to position himself in a way that made me block a whole swan!! And to think he was laughing all the way… =P

As with flowers, we can’t be separated from the lovely butterflies and its ‘cute’ younger days. Thankfully the plant one wasn’t that creepy to me. But it sure didn’t stop a certain someone from making fun of me, bleah…

As usual, I was up to my nonsense =P

And what better way to sign off the day than with cheery sunflowers.
Say cheese!! =D
