Ultimo Prymont Festival

Sydney sure has a number of musical/arty events, as I was fortunate enough to have Peixuan accompanying me for one today. But searching high and low for it, we almost decided to give it a miss when we could not find where it was held at. Yet lo and behold when we made a wrong turn to decide to head back, it was just right in front of us!!

And as luck would have it, we witnessed one of the most spectacular performance of samba by Brazillian drum and dance. I must say, the girls were tastefully hot!

Dum, dum, dum, dum… I miss my percussion days!! Someone please pass me a drumset!

The wonderful dancers with their really lovely and flamboyant costumes!

And with their enthusiasm, they worked the crowd and got quite a few people grooving, even the kids!

Step to the front, and to the back

One of my favourite pictures =)

Anyway, next up was the gypsy band. But with the sound system not being too friendly to our ears, we decided to head off. But not before catching a snap of these people in stilts!

My poor head, hahahaha =)

Anyway, after a really long day of walking, we decided to indulge ourselves in a good meal. So, Pancakes on the Rocks it was!!

A very happy me with my Tabriz =)

With a very sinful Devil’s Delight. Chocolate pancakes with fresh strawberries, cream, chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce. Lie to me that it isn’t sinful please… Time to head to the gym!!

But until then, it was truly an eventful day! Simply lovely =)

Autumn

Autumn has arrived,
Its wind a gusty fly.
The cold envelops me,
A wake up call to reality.

Who will be with me?
To watch the leaves turn brown,
As they make their final dance,
To the cold concrete ground.

As winter slowly makes its way,
Into the heart of the city fray.
I long for your touch,
A comfort I presume as much.

75th Anniversary

Last Sunday marked the 75th Anniversary of Sydney Harbour Bridge, and it was a day when Sydney siders celebrated it via closing the bridge to vehicles for its people to take a journey along the well-known hanger. Having such an opportunity, how can I ever pass up?

Some scenes from Milson’s Point. It was quite a pretty view. It’s only a pity that the skies were grey (again!), or that the sun did not set in time then for a lovely night shot.

The Cityrail track where the train tavels on across the sea.

It was a full day of walking, as I heard on the news that over 200,000 people crossed the Bridge that particular day. But thankfully to their proper planning, people were divided via timings (e.g. 6pm-6.30pm), so that there wouldn’t be an overflow of people on the bridge that they would have to spill into the sea.

It feels as if we are about to enter the ‘hive’ (left), before we were finally inside it (right)

For myself, I did enjoy it tremendously. The opportunity to view and admire the architecture of a bridge upclose is quite a dream come true for me, as I tried my best to capture it on photo to do it justice.

Masses of steel, so much so that it really feels like a rollar-coaster ride.

People on the job. Hmm… Not sure what exactly they were supposed to do. Maybe to watch over us? But anyway, this picture somehow reminds me once again how small man is as compared to his creations.

Lost in a sea of people, altogether celebrating the 75th anniversary of Sydney Harbour Bridge. I’m glad that I was part of this experience!

Of Dressing Up and Dancing

In the midst of the piling assignments, at times you just have to take a break and chill out. With an invite to a birthday party over the weekend, Ying Ying and myself headed there for some relaxation before returning home to prepare for another week ahead.

Liz was the girl with the birthday party. Being a dancer and having invited many of her fellow dancers, you can expect it to be a night of pure movement. It was this night too that I travelled around the world via dance steps, as I learnt or tried learning some moves of Middle East’s Belly Dancing, Latin American’s Salsa, the Dominican Republic’s Bachata, and Argentina’s and Uruguay’s Tango.

Boy it sure wasn’t easy at all! I felt physically retarded, or that I have two left feet!! Give me freestyle dancing and I can perform pretty well I suppose. But such synchronised steps, you’ll have to give me more time before I can get a full grasp of what is happening without tramping onto your feet or forgetting the various steps!

Oh well, at least I got to dress up, feel pretty, and have a taste of how dancing is like =)

Did I mention that I received a rose from a guy too? I must say that somehow, the men here are gentlemen, or at least the ones that I’ve met. They take into consideration the female species before taking any action for themselves. And as much as this rose was plucked from the house’s garden, the act was still pretty sweet and romantic in my opinion. (Haha, it can’t be helped, I’m just a hopeless romantic).

This reminds me of the past when I could never really smell the scent of roses, much less appreciate them. But now that I finally took time to appreciate it, I realised that I do love the scent of roses! (Despite that, lilies still win hands down in my list of favourite flowers.)

Tis Geri and her flowers and romantic notions! =)
